Why did many of the British people not support the revolutionary war?

Many British ppl didn't support the revolution war Because in Britain we had to pay something like 26 times the amount of tax the colonists had to pay just to help pay for the cost of protecting them. To us Brits the rebels seemed greedy and ungrateful so obviously wouldn't support them.
