The album originally was released only in the Soviet Union in 1988 under the Russian title, "Снова в СССР" ("Back in the USSR"). The album was later released internationally, in 1991. The album included McCartney's versions of rock-and-roll classics like, "Ain't that a Shame," "That's All Right, Mama," and "Lucille."
