The main thing to come out of the Marbury vs Madison case was the idea of "judicial review". This is the idea that gives the Supreme Court the power to review and decide if laws are unconstitutional. 
The idea of Judicial Review which is basically review by the US Supreme Court of the constitutional validity of a legislative act.
