The unification of Germany and Italy disrupted the balance of power held in Europe at the time and created a power (Germany) strong enough to contest France who had ruled most of Europe until this time.Furthering in time it would lead to power struggles such as ww1 and ww2 and also through the unification brought wide spread ideas of nationalism and imperialism to follow.
