Do you think that trying to assimilate native americans into white society was a good idea?

Hm, personally, i don't think so.

This assimilation was more often than not forced and often children were torn from their parents in the process. Also, it resulted in a great loss of culture and linguistic diversity, and also from a purely scientific point of view this meant that we have now lost an important way to learn about our history. Further, it helped racism spread, as it implied that white was good and native was bad.
