We use 6 because the # has to be greater than or equal to 1 but less than or equal to 10.
10^4=10000
10000×6=60000

To write a number in scientific notation, first, write a decimal point in the number so that there's only one digit to the left of the decimal point.

Next, count the number of places the decimal point would need to move to get back to the original number.

The number of spaces to get back to the original number is the exponent.
