Rob Reiner probably had Errol Flynn in mind. He is a classic star known for his swashbuckling movies, good looks and British accent. Cary Elwes, the star of Princess Bride, even evoked this similar personal and type in playing Robin Hood: Men in Tights, a Mel Brooks spoof, where he comically played Errol Flynn's character and persona from The Adventures of Robin Hood.
