Mesopotamia is the cradle of civilization, it is the land area located between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. In fact the Greek name Mesopotamia means between two rivers. The ancient region of Mesopotamia corresponds with modern day Iraq, Kuwait, Turkey and Syria. Mesopotamia is the first ancient civilization where urban settlements developed.
