The square root of 96 is the same thing as the square root of (16 x 6),
and that in turn is (√16) times (√6) .

We know the square root of 16 right away, so we can write

                         √96  =  4 √6 .

You have asked what goes into that 3 times.  "Goes into..." is just
another way of stating division.

What goes into  4√6  three times is        (4/3) √6 .

That number is about 3.266 (rounded) .
