The answer is 12 because meiosis reduces the amount of chromosomes produced, thus producing a haploid number of n. Dogfish shark have a chromosome number of 2n. Therefore, n = 12. In meiosis, the chromosome number is reduced in half, so that it may fertilize with another haploid gamete to form a zygote
