The correct answer is option B. i,e beta decay.

Beta decay a neutron decays into a proton, an electron, and an antineutrino. Thus the number of protons increase i.e. the mass number remains the same but the atomic number increases. 

Thus, the beta decay results in an overall increase in the total number of protons.
