What fossil evidence was most useful in arranging the continents?

The fossil evidence was most useful because if there weren't fossils, there would not be evidence that there were different continents. Now, if an archeologist finds a fossil, they can match it up with something on the other continent. For example, if someone finds a fossil in India, they can match it up with ones in China, show there was evidence of fossils in the other continent.
