What role does the legislature or parliament fulfill in a constitutional monarchy?

There is a lot of roles that the legislature or parliament fulfill in a constitutional monarchy, one of these roles is the king in parliament. the king in parliament is making sure that the monarchy is able to provide the checks and balances needed by the government so they will not be charged on passing unlawful bills.
