He wrote a pamphlet called common sense. advocating independence from Great Britain to people in the Thirteen Colonies

Thomas Paine wrote "Common Sense." It was a pamphlet presented to the public. It discussed what was wrong with Britain's monarchy and what should be done about it (revolution; self-rule). It was a milestone because it was very easy to read for many colonists that weren't extremely literate.
