-5x + y = -2
step 1: add -y to both sides
-5x + y - y = -2 + -y
-5x = -y-2

step 2: divide both sides by -5.
-5x/-5=-y-2/-5

answer: ¹/5 y + 2/5

2) -3x + 6y = -13

step 1: add -6y to both sides.
-3x + 6y -6y = -12 + -6y
-3x = -6y - 12

step 2: divide both sides by 3.

-3x/-3 = -6y - 12/ -3

answer: x = 2y + 4
