On the way to school, if the ratio of walkers to bus riders is 2:7, then the number of bus riders is 3.5 times the number of walkers, because 7 (bus riders) divided by 2 (walkers; not to be confused with zombies) is equal to 3.5, which is what you would have to multiply the exact number of walkers by to get the number of bus riders.
