How are Supreme Court justices chosen and how long do they serve

The president nominates somebody to fill the vacancy, then the Senate votes to confirm the nominee.  They only have to win by a majority vote.
According to our constitution, justices shall "hold their office during good behavior".  So, they can hold office as long as they want, unless they're removed from the office by being impeached.
