To answer the question above, convert first the gallons to quarts. Each gallon is composed of 4 quarts such that 3 gallons is equal to 12 quarts. Dividing this value by 3 and multiplying by 2, the answer would be 8. Thus, 8 cups will be needed to make the juice.
