How Can Something Be Both Predator And A Prey?

I think it could be both predator and pray because if the predator were looking at the prey and not pay attention to it's surroundings and only focusing on the prey than the predator would easily be the prey. Thank you

Let's take a snake for example it eats a frog then a hawk eats the snake so it can go both ways.
Frog ---> Snake ---> Hawk
