it grows when it gets colder and water clings and freezez to it or it shrinks when you drive your gas guzzeler of a car causing global warming

Basically in order for a glacier to grow water would have to freeze to it, adding layers to the glacier. In order for a glacier to recede, or get smaller, the temperature of the water would have to warm up gradually.
