Repetition is a key poetic technique that is used to convey the mood of a poem. Part A: The statement that best describes how both poets use or don’t use sound devices to convey the mood of their poems is;
- Both poets use repetition of keywords to convey the mood.
Part B: Two excerpts from the poems that best support the answer to Part A are;
- The silver apples of the moon, / The golden apples of the sun. (“The Song of Wandering Aengus,” lines 23–24)
- He met a pilgrim shadow— . . . / Down the Valley of the Shadow, (“Eldorado,” lines 15, 21)
In these poems, repetition of keywords were used to stress ideas.
In lines 23 - 24 of "The Song of a Wandering Aengus" apples were stressed for emphasis. In lines 15 and 21 of "Eldorado" shadow was repeated for emphasis.
These show that the poets repeated keywords to convey the mood.
