Scale factor = 12/8 = 6/4 =3/2. So the scale factor is 3/2

Ratio of area= (scale factor)^2 : 1 = (3/2)^2 : 1 = 9/4 : 1

Ratio of volume = (scale factor)^3 : 1 = (3/2)^3 : 1 = 27/8 : 1
