remember you can do anything to an equaiton as long as you do it to both sides

3-2(2x-3)=17
minus 3 from both sides
3-3-2(2x-3)=17-3
-2(2x-3)=14
divide both sides by -2
2x-3=-7
add 3 to both sides
2x+3-3=3-7
2x=-4
divide both sides by 2
x=-2
