The Theban Hegemony (371-362 BC) was a short period in which the battlefield victories of Epaminondas overthrew the power of Sparta, and made Thebes the most powerful state in Greece.
Battle of Mantinea is a battle fought between the Thebans and the Spartan. Both side claimed victory but the Theban won a tactical victory but the Theban leader died and ended the Theban hegemony in Greece.
