Yes, the colonists were justified in declaring independence from Great Britain. The list of grievances against the tyranny of King George III provided evidence against him. It provided reluctant colonists with the means necessary to advocate for independence. According to the many transgressions of Great Britain (Stamp Act, quartering of troops, etc.), the colonists were quite justified in their desire to split from Great Britain.
