How did the Treaty of Versailles help pave the way for the Nazi party to gain control of Germany?

The Treaty of Versailles imposed punitive reparations and loss of territory. Hitler exploited these as reasons for Germany's problems. They became a catalyst for supporting his policies including marching into the Rhineland and the re-armament of Germany in order to restore German national pride.
