For a rectangular figure, the area is the product of the length and the width. 
                                         A = L x W
                          g² - 2g - 24 = (g + 4) x W
The width is obtained by dividing the area by the length,
                           (g² - 2g - 24) / (g + 4) = W
From the equation, W is equal to g - c.
