Converging lens is also known as a convex lens. The image formed by a convex lens is real and inverted. When the object is placed between the focus F₁ and the optical center O, the formed image is virtual and erect.

A concave lens is also called as a diverging lens. The image formed by a concave lens is virtual and erect always.
