The patellar reflex assesses the femoral nerve. its synapse is at the level of the lumbar vertebrae L2 to L4. This reflex is manifested when lightly strike the patellar part of the knee producing an extension of the leg, because a nerve impulse is activated that reaches the quadricep femoral muscle.
