What is the equation of a line that passes through the point (5, −4) and is parallel to the line whose equation is 2x + 5y = 10?

x = 5 ( 2- y ) / 2 that's the answer

Parallel lines have equal slopes  

Substitute 5 for the x and -4 where the y is

2(5)+5(-4)

= 10+-20

= -10

So the answer would be 2x+5y=-10
