The advantage of the USB is that is free. The advantage of the Parallel Port Dongle is that it works on all operating systems, and it has a faster data transfer than USB. The disadvantage of a USB is that you can't print from true DOS. A disadvantage of the parallel port dongle is that license dongles are easily lost and are prone to damage.
