How can our system of federalism lead to conflict between the states and the federal government?

A major way in which our system of federalism can lead to conflict between the states and the federal government is that there can be disagreements of the extent to which power is shared by the states and the federal government, since a federalist system requires both entities to have power (although the federal government has most).
