To find the percentage increase:

[tex] \frac{new \: wage - original \: wage}{original \: wage} \times 100\%[/tex]
In this case:

(10.25-9)/9 ×100%
=1.25/9×100%
=0.138888... ×100%
=13.8888...%
≈13.9%

Therefore it increased by 13.9%.
