Step 1: find LCM of denominators 3 and 4.

Since there is no common factor between 3 and 4, the LCM is just the product 12.

Now write each fraction in terms of the LCM as denominator before adding to get the final answer.

2/3=4*2/(4*3)=8/12

3/4=3*3/(3*4)=9/12

Now add the two fractions

8/12+9/12 = (8+9)/12 = 17/12

Reduce to mixed fraction

17/12 = (12+5)/12 = 1 + 5/12 = 1 5/12
