(f + g)(x) means add the rules of the two functions

[tex] \sqrt{x} [/tex] is the rule of f(x) and [tex] x-7 [/tex] is the rule of g(x)

and because they don't have any like terms to combine, the answer is as follows:

[tex] (f+g)(x)=\sqrt{x} +x-7 [/tex]
