the school that imani goes to is selling tickets to a spring musical. on the first day of ticket sales the school sold 8 adult tickets and 5 child tickets for a total of $108 the school took in $67 on the second day by selling one adult ticket and 14 child tickets find the price of an adult ticket and the price of a child ticket?

If we let x and y represent the prices of adult and child tickets, respectively, then we can write two equations based on the daily sales.
  8x +5y = 108
  x +14y = 67

A graphing calculator shows the solution of these equations to be
  (x, y) = (11, 4)

The price of an adult ticket is $11.
The price of a child ticket is $4.
