Installation plan
Produce a comprehensive installation plan for the installation of the hardware
components, software installation and configuration that includes:
• a job sheet with a description of the tasks to be carried out
• resources including tools, hardware components and software to be
installed
• safe working practices.
You should provide evidence that you have backed up the data before
starting the installation process.
1.2 Installation process
Desktop computer
• To improve the system performance, you will need to upgrade the
components.
• Routine maintenance should be carried out on the desktop computer
before the component upgrade and software updates.
• The desktop computer will need to be connected to the office printer.
• Install the following software email, project management, calendar to
access and scheduling meetings, cloud-based storage and online meeting.
• All software versions must be up to date.
• Test the desktop computer for functionality.
Mobile device
• Install compatible apps on a mobile device email, project management,
calendar to scheduling meetings, cloud-based storage and online meeting.
• Test the mobile device for functionality.
• The mobile device must be connected to the office printer.
1.3 Configuration process
Configuration requirements for both desktop computer and mobile
• System time and date.
• Access to cloud-based storage.
• Shortcuts and home screen/desktop.
• Synchronisation, bluetooth pairing, locking/ unlocking and security
passwords.
• Access to software/apps email, project management calendar, online
meeting.
1.4 Testing process
Test the technology system to make sure that both mobile device and desktop
computer can access the software/apps. The test plan should record the
BTEC International Level 2 qualifications in Information Technology

installation and configuration of hardware and software, and how system
faults were rectified.
Provide detailed annotated screen prints of the installation and configuration
process.
